Donetsk Shakhtar on its official website announced the closure of the club's TV channel.
"In connection with the entry into force of the Law of Ukraine "On the prevention of threats to national security associated with excessive influence of persons with significant economic and political weight in public life (oligarchs)" and the incompatibility of the development of private investment with the consequences of this Law, FC Shakhtar appealed to the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting with a request to cancel the broadcasting license of the Shakhtar TV channel.
This is a forced step, the details of which are set out in the statement of the President of FC Shakhtar Rinat Akhmetov dated July 11, 2022 (we are talking about the statement in which the boss of Shakhtar announced his exit from the media business - ed.). The license for the on-air frequency will be returned to the state," the message posted on Shakhtar's club website says.
