Ex-defender of Dynamo Kyiv Oleksandra Golovko shared his impressions of the first match of his former team against Turkish Fenerbahce (0:0) in the 2nd qualifying round of the Champions League, and also assessed the prospects of the White-Blues in the second leg.
“Given the fact that Dynamo did not play official matches for eight months, a draw with Fenerbahce can be considered acceptable for our team. The general condition of Dynamo is good, there was a lot of struggle, Dynamo survived it.
I think that, as for the first game, the people of Kiev played at a good level. The result of the match is also acceptable, it is in line with the game and allows Dynamo to prepare for the second leg with optimism.
Was it possible to win against Fenerbahce? It is possible, but there were not many chances for Dynamo to squeeze out the maximum and talk about a 100% victory. The same can be said about Fenerbahçe. Therefore, in general, the outcome of the match is natural for both teams. Because the Turks also did not set any unsolvable tasks for the defense of Dynamo. Lucescu's wards coped well with them. Visually, the Turks had the initiative, there were short passes, ball control, but Dynamo were ready for this.
It was a game of equal opponents, now we will wait for the return match. Dynamo will have time to recover, to improve some moments in their game. I am sure that in the second leg Dynamo's game will at least not look worse than in the first leg.
In my opinion, both before the first game and on the eve of the second leg in Turkey, taking into account all the problems of Dynamo, Fenerbahce still remains the favorite. Moreover, the Turks will host Dynamo in their native walls, where, as we know, the hosts have powerful support. But this is football, Dynamo will also have their chances that can be used," said Golovko.
