Exactly two years ago, on July 23, 2020, Mircea Lucescu was appointed head coach of Dynamo Kyiv.
In the very first season, under the leadership of Mister, Dynamo made a golden treble, the first in 14 years, having won all three tournaments in the domestic arena - the championship, the Cup and the Super Cup of Ukraine, and also for the first time in several seasons overcame the Champions League qualification and made it to the main stage of the tournament .
Over two calendar years, Dynamo played 70 official matches under Lucescu:
44 matches in the Ukrainian championship (34 wins, 8 draws, 2 losses)
4 matches in the Ukrainian Cup (2 wins in regular time, 1 in extra time, 1 on penalties)
2 matches in the Ukrainian Super Cup (1 win, 1 loss)
16 Champions League matches including qualification (4 wins, 3 draws, 9 losses)
4 matches in the Europa League (1 win, 1 draw, 2 losses)
In total, Mircea Lucescu has 70 matches at the head of Dynamo, in 44 of which the White-Blues won (taking into account cup victories in extra time and on penalties), 12 ended in a draw and 14 lost.
The war interrupted the second season under Lucescu for the White-Blues. After the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Mister became one of the inspirers of Dynamo's charity tour around Europe, thanks to which funds are raised to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukrainians affected by the war.
“Europe must not forget that Ukraine is fighting. And we will show it through our matches. We will use our image opportunities to help people,” Lucescu’s words were quoted by the media throughout Europe after the first charity match.
Under the leadership of Lucescu, young players, the club's pupils are progressing significantly. Dynamo again became the base club of the national team.
Now the Lucescu team, despite all the difficulties, continues to set high goals for itself and strives to get into the group stage of the Champions League for the third time in a row.
