Dynamo Kyiv goalkeeper Denis Boyko spoke about preparations for the return match of the 2nd qualifying round of the Champions League with Turkish Fenerbahce, which will take place next Wednesday in Istanbul.
Denis Boyko- Denis, you played for Besiktas. Does Fenerbahce remain your principal rival?
- It was a long time ago. Yes, and I do not divide rivals into principled and unprincipled. Each game is fundamental for us, and each next opponent is fundamental.
The way people get sick in Turkey, and first of all in Istanbul, is really something incredible. Therefore, Fenerbahce will have the advantage of the 12th player. But we will do everything possible and impossible to go further.
- How hard is it for the goalkeepers standing right in front of the fan stand?
- In Istanbul, not only one stand is actively ill, but the whole stadium very loudly and zealously supports its team. That's why it won't be easy. However, all our goalkeepers have played more than one game at a high level and have already adapted. Our psychology is at the highest level, so we will deal with the 12th player and everything will be fine.
- Do you feel pressure due to the colossal responsibility of this match?
- I would not single out psychological pressure on our team. I think that there will be great pressure on the opposing team, because they will play at home, in front of their fans, who will only demand victory.
This is a plus for us, we will be able to play more liberated and start only from our game and the mindset for the match that Mister will provide.
- What kind of work on the mistakes did Mircea Lucescu do after the first match against Fenerbahce?
— Our coach analyzed the opponent very well both before the first game and before the second leg. Therefore, I think that all the points that Mister emphasized - both our mistakes and successful actions - will help us. We will draw the conclusions that the coach insists on and show the game even better than in the first meeting.
