The Magpies are looking to make a number of signings towards the end of the transfer window as they look to the squad's attacking options. Leicester have not been able to bring in any new players this summer due to Financial Fair Play, so they plan to keep the current squad.
Also on Newcastle's shortlist are Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa and Lyon midfielder Lucas Paquette.
