Wayne Rooney could not contain his emotions after his debut victory in the MLS as the head coach of D.C. United. The club from Washington won a strong-willed victory over Orlando City with a score of 2:1.
The meeting was Rooney's first as a coach since his appointment a month ago. The English specialist could not start performing his duties due to problems with obtaining a visa. D.C. United picked up their first win in their last five league matches.
Despite trailing for most of the game, D.C. United were able to pull out the win in second-half stoppage time, scoring twice.
After the 21st match played, Rooney's wards remain at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.
