Dynamo Kyiv, having managed to get past the Austrian Sturm in the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League, will now continue to fight in the playoff round of the tournament qualification, where they will play with Lisbon Benfica. In case of success in this two-legged confrontation, the Kievans will enter the Champions League group stage, in case of failure, they will end up in the Europa League group stage.
The day before, we introduced you to Dynamo's possible rivals in the Champions League group stage, and today we will bring to your attention the "layouts" in case of an unsuccessful performance of Mircea Lucescu's team in the confrontation with Benfica - the preliminary composition of the baskets during the draw for the Europa League group stage.
There are 32 teams in the Europa League group stage. Half of the participants are already known - this is the winner of the last season's Conference League in the person of Roma, 11 teams from the countries with the highest positions in the UEFA coefficients table, as well as 4 losers from the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League, who played along the "path of non-champions" (" Storm”, “Monaco”, “Midtjylland”, “Union Saint-Gilloise”).
The remaining places in the Europa League group stage will be distributed as follows. 10 tickets to this stage will be given to the winning teams of the playoff round of this tournament. Another 6 places will be given to losers in the playoffs of the Champions League qualifying round, where, we recall, Dynamo will play.
Assuming that in all the play-offs indicated in the previous paragraph the winners are the teams with the highest UEFA club coefficient in the pair, then the composition of the pots at the Europa League group stage draw will take the following form (32 participants will be distributed into 4 pots of 8 teams each according to their UEFA club coefficients).
It should be noted that if Dynamo enters the group stage of the Europa League, it will most likely end up in the 1st pot during the draw. The "white-blue" can get into the 2nd pot only in one case: if the group stage of the Europa League simultaneously Rangers (UEFA odds 50.250), Dinamo Zagreb (49.500) and Crvena Zvezda (46.000) will come out.
All these clubs will play in the playoff round of the Champions League. Rangers will play against PSV, Dinamo Zagreb against Bude Glimpt, Red Star Zvezda against Maccabi Haifa. The simultaneous failure of the mentioned clubs in these confrontations will “move” Dynamo to the 2nd pot.
