Benfica Lisbon striker David Neres, apparently, will miss the first match against Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League qualifying round. This was announced by the head coach of the Portuguese team Roger Schmidt.
“I still don’t know exactly when Neres will be 100% ready. I hope he has fully recovered to play against Dynamo Kyiv, but I think we will have to wait a little longer with his return to the field. In any case, the next few days will bring clarity to this situation,” Schmidt said.
Neres moved to Benfica from Shakhtar Donetsk last June. Since then, the Brazilian has played two matches for his new team (against Midtjylanda in the Champions League qualification and against Aroca in the Portuguese championship), scored two assists in them, but then got injured and was out of action. Yes, Neres missed the last match of Benfica.
Recall that the first match between Dynamo and Benfica will take place next Wednesday, August 17, in Lodz, Poland.
