On the eve of the first meeting between Dynamo Kyiv and Benfica of Lisbon in the playoff round of the Champions League qualification, we compare the value of the teams on the transfer market.
In the framework of the decisive round of Champions League qualification, Dynamo Kyiv will host Portugal's most successful club, Benfica, in Łódź. The first match will take place on Wednesday, August 17, and will start at 22:00 Kyiv time.
The total transfer value of the Lisbon team exceeds Dynamo by almost 2.5 times (245.8 vs. 106.2 million euros according to Transfermarkt data), however, the most expensive player of both teams is Viktor Tsygankov from Dynamo, who is valued at 25 million euros.
The most valuable player of "Benfica" is the German midfielder Julian Weigl, on whom Transfermarkt put a price tag of 22 million euros. The Eagles' most expensive assets also include Spanish left-back Alejandro Grimaldo, Portuguese striker Rafa Silva and Brazilian right winger David Neres, who moved from Shakhtar (€20 million each).
Ukrainian forward Roman Yaremchuk is also in the top and is valued at 15 million euros.
Dynamo central defender Ilya Zabarny has a similar value to Yaremchuk. Mykola Shaparenko (10 million euros), Georgy Bushchan (9 million) and Vitaly Buyalskyi (7 million) also complete the top 5 most expensive players from Kyiv.
