Head coach of Benfica Lisbon Roger Schmidt told what he expects from the first match of his team with Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League qualifying playoff round, which will take place tomorrow in Lodz, Poland.
“There have been not many changes in Dynamo compared to last season. However, in any case, the key to success will be to focus on your game, believe in yourself, but also respect your opponent. I always try to prepare the team as best as possible, but I can say that we have good chances to show the required level of play in the match against Dynamo.
I expect an open game and a motivated opponent who is difficult to fight at home. Dynamo is a team with a good mentality, excellent physical shape and the ability to adapt to the circumstances of the game.
But we must show that we are better than our opponent and deserve to play in the group stage of the Champions League," Schmidt said at the pre-match press conference held today in Lodz.
