General Director of Dynamo Kyiv Serhiy Mokhnik announced the club's position in the situation with a single television pool for broadcasting matches of the Ukrainian championship.
“The position of Dynamo is to show matches for free. We want to do this for the fans, our viewers. Now the country is in a difficult economic situation and not everyone can afford a subscription. Some for financial reasons, others for technical reasons. That is why we provide free access to watching Dynamo matches for those who are at the forefront, for those who are abroad.
Setanta (announced by the UPL, the official broadcaster of the matches of the championship of Ukraine, - ed.) how many subscribers? Now there are 85 thousand in Ukraine. And the army of Kyiv Dynamo fans is 5-7 million. Therefore, we wanted to be given the opportunity to show our matches (even if belatedly) on national channels. It did not work out with Setanta.
As for the appeal of the UPL to the majority of votes in the voting, then “over the knee” will not work here. The club is preparing the stadium, preparing the players, but here it’s just “over the knee”, because they owe someone? We must agree! I have repeatedly said before that it is necessary to make concessions, but "Setanta" did not want to do this.
We are for the pool, but under the conditions that are now in Ukraine. We offered Setante to show Dynamo matches on national channels with a delay of 15-20 minutes, as we already did with them in situations with matches against Fenerbahce and Sturm in the Champions League qualification. We offered to do the same in the Ukrainian championship, but they did not hear us, did not want to do this, saying their categorical "no".
Sanctions against Dynamo? I cannot predict what the reaction of the relevant organizations will be. For many years, it was the case that one part of the matches was broadcast by the Football channel group, and the other by the 1+1 media channel group. But I have already said before that we can transfer the amount that Setanta wants to pay us for broadcasts to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in one payment, but in this situation we are concerned about our fans. Therefore, we have done and will do everything for them,” Mohnik said in a FootballHub comment.
