The documentary film "Basil" dedicated to the legend of Kyiv "Dynamo" - Oleg Bazilevich is released on the screens. Let me put it bluntly: the film must be watched, and it is desirable to watch it in the cinema. Well, if Bazilevich took Dynamo to the theater, then almost everyone can overcome laziness and go to the cinema. Or “each”: girlfriends and wives are not forbidden to enter, they can also be invited - they will understand.
"Basil" is a film in which everyone will find something for themselves. People who are not alien to patriotic feelings will experience real pleasure when they see how Dynamo beat Muscovites and became champions. Spontaneously lit torches on the stands are rare shots of unity and triumph.
There are no such people among us who are far from football, but I assure you, they exist, a person will be interesting. Oleg Bazilevich was a very subtle person, not an intuitive talent, but a real genius who understood what he was doing and why. An excellent footballer, he was no less an excellent coach, and a rare person in his spiritual qualities. If he agreed with Lobanovsky a long time ago that they would train Dynamo together, then he would keep his word. And it doesn't matter that this is a precedent, that no one has done this before. The agreement and friendship are in the first place, and the result, well, what are you, the result will be - what else!
I won't even say that the film will appeal to football fans and experts. The abundance of names, facts, analysis of various nuances is simply amazing. And all this is presented easily, ironically.
By the way, I want to talk about humor. The film is not funny, but very light. Nudilov does not include classic documentaries. But there is a sharp intellectual humor, the humor of "those" people. To understand it, one must set thoughts in motion, one must catch, taste it. The film "Basil" should be savored slowly. That is why they are calling: go to the cinema. The film will not go under beer and fish, but after watching you are provided with hour-long discussions with friends in the pub.
Perhaps you are waiting for me to analyze the plot. Disappointing: I won't do it. Firstly, I would have to retell huge fragments, the film is so cut that it is impossible to tear a piece out of it, the film is solid, it is beautiful in its entirety. Secondly, I don't want to spoil. Yes, in documentaries it is also important not to know what will happen next, in a good documentary.
And good is not enough. The main problem of modern non-fiction films is that most of the products are not actually documentaries. These are TV programs. I am not saying that TV programs and YouTube videos are not needed or that they are bad, no. But when a blogger shoots a type of documentary, then in essence he remains a guy who just takes an interview, and next to him there is another guy who just shoots beautiful shots - this is the media. And documentaries are art. It requires figurativeness, that is, the ability of creators to see and show the big in the small.
Basil has it. The philosophy of "old" football, continuity, love and friendship, betrayal, the fate that keeps those who do not violate moral principles and play honestly, genius and heroism, confrontation and victory - these are just some of the "big" that is reflected in the small film about Bazilevich.
