RB Leipzig midfielder Xaver Schlager commented on the official website of the club's defeat to Shakhtar (1:4) in the Champions League.
“Shakhtar's second goal was a real blow for us. If we had continued the pressure for another 15 minutes after we equalized and dropped Shakhtar even more, the game would have been more equal. But Shakhtar took the lead again in their first attack. This gave them an impetus and gave them more confidence. They only defended themselves, which made the task more difficult for us.
We are all sad and depressed. We have high ambitions as a team and, of course, we want to win games. Losing the way we did is very disappointing. If we were by far the worst team on the field, I would say: "Well, they were better." But it wasn't like that. The loss of points is difficult to explain,” Schlager said.
