Well-known Ukrainian journalist Andriy Shakhov assessed the prospects of Dynamo Kyiv in Group B of the Europa League, where the rivals of the White-Blues are Turkish Fenerbahce, French Rennes and Cypriot AEK.

Andrey Shakhov

- How do you generally assess the draw for Dynamo? There were worse options, but there were better ones.

— Of course. Not the most terrible lot, after all, there are no teams from the "big four" in the group, but it could have been better.

I don’t see anything good in a new meeting with Fenerbahce, which has a grudge against us, Rennes is one of the richest clubs in France, the Cypriots showed in two matches with Dnipro that they know how to play football. Dynamo used to play with Fenerbahce and Rennes, so only the islanders are unfamiliar to us. Dynamo did not play with teams from the island of Cyprus in European competitions before.

- Does this Dynamo have any chances to advance in the Europa League? Or will there still be a fight with Rennes and AEK for the Conference League?

- Of course, there are chances. Moreover, this quartet is one of those in which you need to take one of the first two places. But the group is very even, and any team can take both the last place and the place in the top two. This makes the group complex, dangerous, and interesting. And I would not assign the role of Fenerbahce's favorite in it. In general, I would not give anyone either the status of a favorite or the role of an outsider.

- Dynamo did not let Zabarny and Tsygankov go because they want a result in this Europa League?

- I still think that there were no proposals that would suit the club's management. You remember that at one time Yarmolenko left for Dortmund before the summer transfer window closed, at the very end of August. It was just then that an offer was made that suited all parties, but now, apparently, not.

- Lucescu's statement about his possible resignation... Can Mister leave the club like that?

— Coaches come and go. But I think that these words were mostly spoken for the ears of the players.
