The Ecuador national team, which hopes to play in the 2022 World Cup, may still be suspended from participation in the tournament.
The Daily Mail published an audio recording in which Ecuadorian defender Byron Castillo confessed that he was born in 1995, not 1998, as indicated in his Ecuadorian birth certificate.
Also, Castillo told how he migrated from the Colombian city of Tumaco to San Lorenzo in Ecuador to continue his football career, and who helped him in this.
Recall that in May, the Chilean national team filed a complaint with FIFA with a request to exclude the Ecuador team from the 2022 World Cup due to the fact that a football player from Colombia plays for their team, but FIFA then rejected the claim.
On September 15, the FIFA Appeal Commission is due to make a final decision in the Castillo case.
