At that time, our team of sports journalists "Pressing" functioned almost in the weekly schedule of professional teams: almost every weekend - a friendly match or a tournament.
In this photo, we are after the game with our colleagues from Dnipro (Petro)vsk, the TriGol team. Their captain Viktor Ozhogin Viktor Ozhogin is sitting third on the right, I am right behind him, putting Drugan's hand on his shoulder. Drugan is probably the highest degree of kinship for him. This is a comrade from the journalism workshop, a brother, a best man, etc.
The day before, they discussed this photo with Oleksiy Semenenko, the vice-president of Dynamo Kyiv and Vita's best man. Recognizing our colleagues from Kyiv and making warm jokes about them, in particular, about the indomitable Ozhohin.
And Vitya in those minutes was lying on the operating table. This was revealed the next morning. Usually, Oleksiy doesn't call me at least until lunch, he knows that I like to sleep, because the creative time is often far past midnight. So I immediately felt anxious. "Burned... Severely wounded... Fortunately, alive. In a hospital in Dnipro. He called himself after the operation..."
Before that, as Oleksiy shared, there was a video from Victor in Telegram of how the "hail" of their unit works ("Two minutes and they ate... because they will cover the position"). And the photo from under the Liman is a magnificent river panorama with two blown-up bridges in the center of the frame ("And this is Siverskyi Donets again. And again we crossed it on boats").
...He was wounded by shrapnel while performing a combat mission. A dry phrase - how many are there in the summaries of the war. "Battles of local importance". "The attack of the enemy was repulsed." "Units hold the defense." "Suffered a shrapnel wound." Behind each of those phrases are human lives. Or, unfortunately, torn, or preserved. In his case, Ozhogin, thanks to indomitability and faith, but first of all, thanks to his brothers. That the commander, who was bleeding, was helped in time. What was carried six kilometers under fire through a mined forest. Then they forced the river on rubber boats and dragged them another three kilometers in order to send them as soon as possible to the Dnipro, where surgeons were already waiting. Arrived They made it. Saved, thank God!
Currently, Victor needs more than just our prayers and words of support on social networks. It is not necessary to explain the cost of treatment and rehabilitation after several operations. Material participation in the recovery of the Hero is the least we can do now.
