Former coach of Metalist and Dnipro Miron Markevich shared his expectations from the Armenia-Ukraine match in the League of Nations.
- There was not a single bright spot on the field with Scotland. There are two games and you need to get together. To win these two games. The attitude should be different - not to walk around the field and it is not clear what to think about. Experienced players have swam and young people ... We know how to play, but we need to restore it. The players themselves have to do it. The coach is unlikely to be able to help. The football players must get together and win these two games. Moreover, two teams are in the teeth and there is nothing like that. You just have to really want it. I don’t know who will recover by the game with Armenia. But you need someone to play with your head up, otherwise there was not a single player in Scotland who plays well with his head. The support zone is still, let's say, not very successful. This is our biggest problem. It is impossible to play like they played with Scotland. They probably understand it themselves. It takes a couple of days to get together and move only forward.
I haven't seen the Armenian national team for a long time, but as far as I know, there are football players who play in Europe. Moreover, the game is away, the flight is not easy... Here the Ukrainians just need to show character. Of course, the Armenians will want to prove themselves, but we have no other choice but to win. Therefore, we need to get together, go out and play as best we can. And that's it. Now everyone knows how to play. And Liechtenstein, and Luxembourg, and even more so Armenia. There is someone to play. There are good players from the championships of Poland, Slovakia, Denmark, Cyprus. I heard that Mkhitaryan ended his career in the national team in the spring, otherwise it would have been even more dangerous. Therefore, if we “win” before the game, it will be difficult. There will be no easy walk. You need to go out and kill yourself for every ball, and not cool off.
I don't want to think that we won't win. And football players should take to the field this way, with confidence that we will win. That's all. There is no other way out. But it won't be so easy. We need to give ourselves to the game, and not think that we are already winners before the game,” said Markevich.
