UAF President Andriy Pavelko explained the details of the UAF's claim to the European Court of Human Rights regarding Russia's compensation for damages caused to Ukrainian football.
"Football Russia has already begun to bear the punishment for tacitly supporting the Putin regime's full-scale war against Ukraine. This is depriving Russian teams of the right to participate in all competitions held under the auspices of UEFA and FIFA. But Russia's main retribution for all the crimes committed in Ukraine is yet to come. The football community of Ukraine has already done a huge job of collecting and systematizing basic information about the damage caused by the Russians to our football. Starting from February 24, the UAF, in cooperation with regional associations, TOP clubs, all professional and amateur teams, children's football schools and managers of infrastructure facilities, recorded facts and testimonies regarding the damage suffered by Ukrainian football. All the obtained data were used in the preparation by UAF lawyers of a claim to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) regarding the compensation of these losses.
We are talking about recorded losses throughout the territory of Ukraine, including in the temporarily occupied areas of our state, in particular in the Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kherson regions, as well as in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. In addition, it is not only about the damage caused to Russian military football facilities, but also the financial losses suffered by all subjects of football life in Ukraine, in particular, as a result of the suspension of all football competitions at all levels on the territory of our state. The corresponding lawsuit was filed with the ECtHR office in Strasbourg, France, in mid-September. In the future, lawyers will supplement the data already submitted to the ECtHR, because new facts of crimes committed by Rashists in Ukraine appear every day. We hope for a fair court decision that will force the aggressor country to compensate for all the damage caused. Evil must be punished! Glory to the heroes! Glory to the Armed Forces! Glory to Ukraine!" Pavelko wrote on Facebook.
