Lviv head coach Oleg Dulub spoke about the game of the Ukrainian national team under the leadership of Oleksandr Petrakov.

Oleg Dulub

What else did the Ukrainian team lack to defeat Scotland?

- To a greater extent, there was a lack of luck and arrogance at the end of the match. If Yarmolenko had scored at the beginning of the match from five meters, then everything could have turned out differently. He has enough skill to score nine out of ten such chances, but he was not lucky here. There must be luck in matches of such intensity, but it must be earned. Perhaps Yaremchuk should have been released earlier.

Why did Petrakov play with two defensive midfielders in a match where he had to win?

- It doesn't matter how many defenders played. Man City played in general six defensive midfielders and nothing. It all depends on how the players interact and complement each other. At the end, it was necessary to do some kind of trick to surprise the opponent, but this did not happen. I will not advise Petrakov anything, because only the coach has complete information while being there.

Now there is a lot of talk around Petrakov: should he offer a contract or should he look for an alternative. What do you think about this?

— I like the way it works. To be honest, I liked Petrakov's vertical game more, especially right away, when he just came after Shevchenko. It is more modern - with three central defenders and three forwards. One of the best matches of the national team under his leadership is against France (1:1 - ed.).

Then Petrakov found himself in the realities of the war - when there is no championship, and the national team needs to play decisive matches for reaching the world championship. The League of Nations is more friendly games, so I wouldn't judge them too much. In terms of the game, the Ukrainian national team absolutely deserved promotion to League A, but there are matches where luck is needed, as with Yarmolenko's moment.
