Europa League Group B standings >>>
In the first half, there was a relatively equal fight on the field without any special scoring chances. But the sharpness in the match still arose. So, in the 15th minute of the meeting, Burizhe bitingly shot from the penalty area line, and the ball almost struck the Dynamo goal post. And four minutes later, Garmash powerfully struck from 20 meters, and Mandanda parried this blow with difficulty. Finally, in the 30th minute of the meeting, Meling struck a long-range shot, and the ball again whistled a few centimeters from the Dynamo goal post. And on this, the actual sharpness created by the teams in the first half was exhausted. So, the opponents quite naturally went to the break with the score 0:0 on the scoreboard.
But in the very debut of the second half, Rennes took the lead. At the 48th minute of the meeting, when the French team was serving a corner, Wu ran at speed from behind the backs of the Dynamo defenders and shot Neshcheret's goal with a shot from the goalkeeper's area - 0:1.
It is clear that Dynamo tried their best to turn the tide of the game, tried to level the score, but it must be admitted that Lucescu's charges did not succeed at all in attack. "Rennes" coolly controlled the course of the game, including at the same time the maximum speed. As a result, until the final whistle, Dynamo failed to create a single scoring chance at the opponent's goal (not counting Karavaev's long-range shot, after which the ball flew near the post) and suffered another, already the fourth defeat in the tournament.
Let us add that in another match of the 4th round in Group B of the Europa League, the Turkish Fenerbahce defeated the Cypriot AEK away — 2:1. As a result, the standings of the teams in this group took on the following form: Fenerbahce - 10 points, Rennes - 10, AEK - 3, Dynamo - 0.
Thus, Dynamo lost the chances of reaching the playoffs of the Europa League.
In the next round, Group B will play: AEK - Dynamo, Fenerbahce - Rennes. Both meetings will take place on October 27.
