The International Center for Sports Research (CIES) has published an analysis of the creativity of teams in different championships.
The Football Observatory has analyzed the number of scoring chances in 74 world championships and formed the ratings of entertainment. Matches played this year were taken into account - from January 1 to September 26, 2022.
Unfortunately, the UPL topped the anti-rating of Europe. In the Ukrainian championship, an average of 8.62 chances are created per match. Only Bulgaria has the same modest figures. In the world rankings, our Premier League is only ahead of the Brazilian Serie B.
At the other extreme are the German Bundesliga (13 goals per game), the Dutch Erstedivisie, the Norwegian Eliteserien, the Qatari Stars League and the Australian A-League.
In terms of performance, the UPL is also in the tail - 2.23 goals per match. This is the eighth worst result in the world and the second worst in Europe (after the Greek Super League). However, it should be borne in mind that only UPL matches played in conditions of a full-scale war were included in the study.
