UAF President Andriy Pavelko provided additional information about the idea of creating a football team of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Andriy Pavelko — I am sure that the most important is our Armed Forces team at the front. They defend our state and lead the country to victory. The idea that we discussed during one of the meetings with Volodymyr Zelenskyi is that many good guys, real football players, are currently in the Armed Forces.
The President supported this idea, but we agreed that there would be a gradual discussion of this issue. To talk about where to play, what will be the selection for the team. Maybe first there will be some opportunity to see our heroes on the football field during their rotation. They need to switch psychologically after the front. During this rotation, you may be asked to see the best of the best and take the first step towards a future ZSU team.
There is no question that she will be in the UPL right now. It is worth the task that such a team is created step by step. There will be real soldiers of ours who are serving and play football well. I am sure that this idea will be implemented in life. We will gradually come to the point that it is not only about participation in the championships, but also that there is a selection system, an open financing system, so that fans can support and donate.
