After "Dynamo" Kyiv miraculously beat Istanbul "Fenerbahce" in the summer in the first round of qualifying for the Champions League, I wrote about the fact that, among other things, we were helped to win by a long-standing tradition, according to which Turkish teams are almost always inferior to us by more or less equal play.
It so happened that Dynamo had to finish their European cup journey by playing against those with whom they started this journey. Even before the start of the game against "Fenerbahce" it was known that the Kyivans were eliminated from the Europa League, and the Istanbul team prematurely left the group before the "playoff" stage. It remained to play for prestige, for the winning traditions laid down by many generations of Dynamo players back when even the parents of the current football players were not in the world. We were waiting for the final match of Dynamo in the European Cups to prove that the team's failures were random, caused not always by football reasons.
And what did we see? We have seen that the Fenerbahce team has significantly improved the level of play in three months, while the Dynamo team has done the opposite! I will never believe that the players of the Kyiv team suddenly learned how to play football, or are not able to follow the instructions of the coaches, or do not give one hundred percent in the game. The question lies in the lack of the actual game! Even with a great desire, it is impossible to see what game "Dynamo" will play in the fall of 2022!
One can refer to the difficulties caused by the war. You can accuse the Turkish team of unsportsmanlike conduct during the last game, which was apparently condoned by the referee. But it was always like that! And it still hasn't stopped us from beating Turkish teams! It seems that the time for excuses is over. When "Dynamo" is no longer afraid in Istanbul, something should be done about it. Otherwise, fear will be lost not only in Istanbul, but also in Kovalivka, in Alexandria...
