Ukraine has not yet received money from the sale of London's Chelsea, which was previously owned by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich. This is reported by Bloomberg.
The deal to sell Chelsea went through in May of this year. The then Abramovich promised that the money received from the sale of the club would be used for humanitarian assistance to victims of the war in Ukraine.
British European Affairs Minister Leo Doherty has now said that "the money is still frozen in Abramovich's UK bank account." In a report to parliament, the minister added that administrative work is now underway and a license is being prepared to unfreeze funds. At the same time, opposition Labor MP Chris Bryant said the delay was "terrible" and urged the government to "take action" as soon as possible.
Recall that Abramovich sold Chelsea to American Todd Boely for about $4 billion. The oligarch promised to transfer most of this amount to Ukraine.
