On Wednesday, November 9, the House of Football hosted the presentation of the book "Blokhin" by the honored journalist of Ukraine Valentin Shcherbachov.
The printed edition is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the legend of Ukrainian football. His presentation gathered the leaders of the national association and close friends of the jubilee - the first vice-presidents of the UAF Anatoly Demyanenko, Oleksiy Mykhailichenko and Oleg Protasov, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, the publishing house "Samit-knyga" and journalists.
Valentin Shcherbachov told the guests of the event about the writing of the book, in which little-known facts about Oleg Blokhin's childhood and family are presented, the stories of the star ex-footballer about his performances both for Dynamo Kyiv and the USSR national team, memories of the winner of the "Golden Ball" ”-1975 about the history of his difficult relationship with Valery Lobanovsky, one of the most outstanding coaches of world football, and many other interesting facts.
"Oleg Blokhin is a person I have known for more than 50 years. The purpose of this book is to make people remember the glorious history of Ukrainian football. The team of Blokhin and Lobanovsky was made up of people with the psychology of winners. Ukrainians should know and remember such bright personalities. This is necessary not only for those who love and understand football, but also for future generations of Ukrainians. One should know about the glorious past in order to strive for a glorious future," Valentin Shcherbachov said during the presentation.
In turn, Anatoly Demyanenko, Oleksiy Mykhailichenko and Oleg Protasov shared stories about how their paths crossed with Oleg Blokhin, who became a role model for each of them in the game and a friend on the football field. The first copies of the book were also given to the guests of honor from the author.
