Shakhtar forward Lasina Traore told why he remained in the team after Russia's attack on Ukraine on February 24.
— I have never been in such a situation before. But the team, management and leadership of the club gave me the motivation to stay. When everything was good, I felt incredible attitude towards myself. In this difficult time, I feel that I cannot let Shakhtar down. My responsibility now is to help them.
I spoke with my mother, girlfriend, father - and they said: “This is your decision, but we think that you should stay at Shakhtar and help the team. Last season, you found yourself in a difficult situation, and the club helped you - they made a good transfer. You had a great start, and then an injury. And Shakhtar took care of everything.” I thought that when I return to the field, I want to play for Shakhtar.
I spoke several times with Marlon, Pedrinho, Manor Solomon and other guys. They asked me how things are here. I told them everything as it is: it’s not easy for us, but I feel safe and everything is fine with me. If I can play in Ukraine, why can't they? Traore said.
