FIFA has launched an investigation into potentially discriminatory chants that were heard from Mexican fans during the 2022 World Cup match against Poland (0-0). ESPN reports.
According to the source, the proceedings were opened on the basis of Article 13 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
It is not possible to determine from the FIFA publication whether the current proceedings are related to shouting against LGBT+ people, however, according to the Spanish publication AS, Mexican fans used homophobic chants in the stadium.
