There was a political scandal at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. It was arranged by the Serbian national team, which hung out a flag in its dressing room, on which the territory of Serbia includes Kosovo. In addition, the flag bore the inscription: "There will be no surrender."
In response, the Football Federation of Kosovo issued a statement on its official website.
“Such a chauvinistic act has no place at sporting events, and even more so where the world's largest football event takes place. It is unacceptable that this act is hushed up.
We strongly demand that FIFA strictly enforce its rules and punish the Serbian Football Federation for this aggressive act, contrary to the values that football conveys," the Kosovar Football Federation said in a statement.
The Minister of Sports of Kosovo reacted to the scandal: “Given that Kosovo is a full member of FIFA and UEFA, we expect specific actions from FIFA in response to these shameful images from the locker room of Serbia, which demonstrate a hateful, xenophobic and genocidal attitude towards Kosovo, using for this championship world football."
Recall that Kosovo is a partially recognized country located on the territory of the former Yugoslavia. FIFA and UEFA recognize Kosovo - the clubs and teams of this country take part in all international football competitions.
