The famous journalist Mykola Nesenyuk - about a monster from a foreign country called "Russia".

Mykola Nesenyuk

"On October 9, 1999, the front page of the Moscow newspaper "Sovetsky sport" was decorated with the following headline: "BAY, X@HLOV, hold on, Khlestov, don't miss, Filimonov, SAVE RUSSIA!".

On that day, the Ukrainian football team was supposed to play the last qualifying match for Euro-2000 in Moscow. It is clear that this headline could not have appeared without the knowledge of the top Kremlin leadership and could not have aroused quite understandable feelings in the Moscow public. The same ones that they carefully hid inside themselves, and which simply burst out of their distorted souls at every opportunity. The paraphrased call "beat zh@dov", where "zh@dy" were replaced by "х@хлов" was easily read by all those willing and caused the locals to have a fully expected orgasm.

Those who are interested in football remember that game well. The advantage in it was not on our side, the goal in Shovkovsky's goal was, as they say, "brewing" and in the end they scored. It seemed like everything! But something told me in those moments, and I'm sure not only me, that after such calls we simply have no right to lose! And we didn't lose - our second goal in the penultimate minute was illogical and random but it was right! It could not be otherwise! As a result, we were then ahead of our opponents, leaving them in an "impenetrable" third place in the group.

Let's return from football to life. As far as I remember, there was no reaction from Ukraine to the frankly provocative headline of the Moscow newspaper at that time. Neither from athletes nor from politicians. Although the then president Kuchma was present at that match. We "swallowed" a blatant insult just as we "swallowed" these insults for many years before and after. We allowed ourselves to be insulted and humiliated. And the enemies saw it well.

Who were the Ukrainians for them? Earners who could be defrauded, who could not be paid, who could be beaten without risking anything. They have it. We were no better off - Moscow money made Ukrainian politicians and journalists obedient very easily - a few months after that football match, Dima Kisielov arrived in Kyiv on the Pinchuk TV channels, who promised to teach stupid h@hls how to work for crazy money. I will never forget how now well-known nationalist journalists eagerly looked into that Dima's mouth... But this is so...

The main thing that we didn't realize at the time, I think, was that they really dream of "beating x@hlov". And not at all a joke, as it seemed to some at the time. They just had to be well prepared before that. So that the low animal instincts inherent in them cause not shame, but pride. So that they agree to "beat х@хлов" not in a figurative sense, but in a literal sense. They just needed to be given such an opportunity so that we could answer them.

What came of it? A little more and they will finally forget the first part of their slogan and remember the second - "save Russia!". But will they be saved? Not sure!" Nesenyuk wrote on his Facebook page.
