On December 13, 2004, the legendary football player, former player of Dynamo, Milan and the Ukrainian national team Andriy Shevchenko was recognized as the best player in the world by France Football magazine.
Then, according to the results of the voting, Shevchenko was ahead of two representatives of Barcelona: the Portuguese midfielder Deco and the Brazilian midfielder Ronaldinho.
In the 2003/04 season, Milan, for which Shevchenko played at that time, won the title of Italian champion, and the Ukrainian football player became the top scorer in Serie A - 24 goals.
We also recall that Shevchenko became the first owner of the Golden Ball in the history of independent Ukraine and the third Ukrainian after Oleg Blokhin (1975) and Igor Belanov (1986), who was awarded the prestigious France Football award.
