The legendary striker of the Brazilian national team, Pele, wrote a letter to the fans and players of the Seleção.

Life is always generous and offers new beginnings. With every day we start a new path. And in this cycle, we have dreams that never die, no matter the obstacles.
This applies to everyone, but when you dream of becoming a footballer, the opportunities are much less and the dream is far away. Mistakes are painful in any life. Don't you think there are a lot more people talking about them? To be honest, victories are celebrated much more often.
In spite of the pain we feel as we exit the World Cup, I ask Brazilians to remember what brought us to the first five stars on our chest. We are driven by love. I don't know why we are so crazy about football. This is the love for true friendship in sports, for the victorious scream or forgetting all the problems we face, even if the match lasts only 90 minutes. Perhaps the love for the fight against poverty, hunger and drugs that football involves in the many communities that make up such a huge country. There are many benefits to the most beautiful sport. Especially here in Brazil.
It doesn't matter the reason. What is important is that this team brought us together at a time when we needed unity so much. And my dream is that this feeling between us and our country is not just fleeting. This goal may seem unattainable. However, when I was a boy, I had another dream that also seemed like this: to win the World Cup for my father.
Speaking of dreams, don't think our athletes' dreams are over. I know they still dream of the sixth star, as I dreamed of it when I was a boy. Our victory is only delayed.
