Barcelona are close to reaching a preliminary agreement with Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante, reports SPORT.
The current contract of the Frenchman with the London club expires in the summer, and the "blues" are not going to satisfy the player's demand for a contract extension for another three years.
The Catalans are looking to strengthen their midfield, with Sergio Busquets set to leave the club in the summer and Frankie de Jong's future at Camp Nou still in doubt. Considering Barcelona's limited financial resources, Kante's free transfer is very attractive to the Blaugrana.
It will be recalled that Kante has been a key player in Chelsea's midfield for many years, but various injuries have limited his appearances on the field over the past 18 months. The Frenchman played in just two matches for the London club in the 2022-23 season.
