Benfica midfielder and Argentina national team Enzo Fernandez has become a tasty morsel for European giants after successful performances at the 2022 World Cup.
After spectacular performances at the Qatari World Cup, Benfica raised the price of the 21-year-old Argentine, acquired for 12 million in the summer. 100 million was not enough for the Portuguese, so they want the buyer to pay the clausula.
Among the main contenders are Manchester United and Liverpool. Now the Mancunians have bypassed the Merseysiders in pursuit of Enzo. Negotiations between all interested parties are already underway. The Red Devils are ready to pay 120 million euros, which are prescribed in the clause to avoid competition, journalist Bruno Andrade reports.
Fernandez made 24 appearances for Benfica, scoring three goals and five assists.
