Belgian Brugge head coach Karl Hoefkens has been sacked, according to the club's press service.
“Despite the amazing performance in the Champions League (exit to the 1/8 finals, where the Belgians will play with Benfica - ed.), the results and the level of play in the national championship were below expectations. The break for the World Cup did not bring any improvement,” the club said in a statement.
Recall that the team, in which Ukrainians Roman Yaremchuk and Eduard Sobol play, takes fourth place in the national championship. It has also already been eliminated from the Belgian Cup, having lost heavily in the 1/8 finals to Saint-Truiden - 1:4.
