Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar are among the ten highest paid athletes in 2022 according to Forbes.
According to Forbes, Leo earned the most in the last year. The Argentine overtook basketball legend LeBron James with £108m. At Paris Saint-Germain, Messi earns 1.2 million euros a week and has contracts with Adidas, Budweiser, PepsiCo and Hard Rock International, from which he received 45 million euros off the field.
Messi's eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo has experienced the most difficult period of his career. His wages were cut after Manchester United failed to qualify for the Champions League at the end of last season and the club terminated his contract this season. Despite a lack of sporting achievement, Cristiano Ronaldo earned a whopping £96m in 2022. Sponsorship deals with Nike, Herbalife and Clear Shampoo, as well as his Instagram passion, have helped him earn £46m off the pitch.
PSG's Brazilian striker Neymar earned £79m in 2022.
