Valery Lobanovsky (1939-2002) - the legend of world football. One of the best coaches in football history. A long-term mentor of Dynamo Kyiv, with whom he won many trophies, including two Cup Winners' Cups and the UEFA Super Cup. Eight-time champion of the USSR, six-time winner of the USSR Cup, five-time champion of Ukraine, three-time winner of the Ukrainian Cup. Three times he coached the USSR national team, with which he became the silver medalist of the 1988 European Championship. Valery Vasilievich had many nicknames that characterized the iron character and coaching talent of the Soviet genius. Lobanovsky was called Mater, Colonel, Iceberg and VVL. We add that when Valery Vasilievich worked in the Arab countries (UAE, Kuwait), the Arabs called him the Gloomy Bear.
Lobanovsky had a dream - to win the European Cup (later the Champions League - ed.), which was not given to come true.
