Former Chelsea midfielder Gustavo Poyet believes the Londoners should have signed West Ham midfielder Declan Rice a long time ago.
"I think Chelsea wanted to understand the situation with Kante's injury. Since there is no telling when he might return, I would buy Rice immediately. Just yesterday they should have gone and bought it. The difference in Chelsea's game with and without Kante is striking. When he moved from Leicester I thought he was the best defensive midfielder in the world.
I am convinced that Chelsea must find a replacement for Kante. Can't wait so long for his return. I have nothing against Jorginho, Kovacic, but they are different levels. I think it is extremely important for a British club to have a leader in the center of the field. "Chelsea can get such a leader for many years," Poeta was quoted as saying by Goal.
