As expected, Dnipro-1 announced the signing of a contract with Costa Rica national team defender Ronald Matarrita.
According to the press service of Dnipro, a two-year agreement was signed with the 28-year-old football player. In the near future, the Costa Rican will join his new team at a training camp in Turkey. Matarrita got Dnepr-1 for free, since at the time of signing the contract with the Ukrainian club he was in the status of a free agent.
Recall that Matarrita took part in the 2022 World Cup as part of the Costa Rica national team. At the world championship in Qatar, the newcomer of Dnipro-1 spent 44 minutes: 17 in the match against Spain (0:7) and 27 in the match against Germany (2:4).
For the last seven years, Matarrita has played in the American MLS for New York City and Cincinnati.
Nominally, Matarrita is a left-back, but he can play in any position on the flank, including as a winger.
