The duty to give everything, play with all our heart and win every time we step on the pitch. I thought about it for several months and decided it was time for me to retire from international football.
I remember as a child watching France in 1998, this team, these players who gave us incredible emotions. I dreamed of repeating this achievement, and 20 years later I had one of the most wonderful days of my life, which I am really proud of. We brought the cup home! I will never forget it. I still feel the emotions I felt on that day, July 15, 2018. It was one of the greatest moments of my life.
This victory we achieved together would never have been possible without the support of Didier Deschamps, every member of the management and staff over the years, my teammates who have defended our country in every match.
But more importantly, this victory would not have been possible without the support of each and every fan. Your enthusiasm, celebration and memories of our return to France will always remain in my memory. Even after losing the final last year, you gave us a hero's welcome when we came back. Thank you a thousand times to each of you!
I will definitely miss those moments with you - but it's time for a new generation to take over. We have a group of talented young players who are ready to take things into their own hands.
