Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was unable to change his club registration in the winter transfer window.
The Gabonese forward only moved to London in the summer of 2022, but has already fallen so far down the rankings in west London that he has been ruled out of the Blues' bid for the Champions League. During the winter transfer window, Chelsea held talks about his transfer to another club. Atletico Madrid and Milan were interested in the services of the 33-year-old football player.
According to Standard Sport, Aubameyang has already played for Barcelona and Chelsea in the 2022/23 season, and FIFA rules prohibit a player from representing more than two teams in one campaign. The most likely option would have been for the forward to return to Camp Nou, where Aubameyang has scored 13 goals in 24 appearances for Barca, but the Catalans have been unable to negotiate a deal due to Financial Fair Play concerns.
