The UAF planned that Serhiy Rebrov would become the new head coach of the Ukrainian national team. This, in particular, was stated by the president of the organization Andrei Pavelko. But it is not clear what the “professionals” from Laboratorny Lane were counting on, because this specialist is bound by a contract with his current club, Al-Ain from the UAE, until the summer.
As for fallback options, journalist Mikhail Spivakovsky spoke about them on the air of the TaToTake Youtube channel.
According to the source, in the case of the impossibility of appointing Rebrov before the start of the Euro 2024 selection, the UAF planned to make Petrakov the head coach of the national team again. But this option was dropped after this specialist recently headed the Armenian national team.
In the most extreme case, the UAF hoped to temporarily entrust the national team to Rebrov's assistants in Al Ain - Vicente Gomez and Albert Bosch. But, again, it is difficult to understand what is in the heads of the UAF leaders, because both of these specialists are in the exact same situation as Rebrov - they are also bound by contracts with their current club.
It turns out that, as of the current moment, there are simply no candidates for the post of head coach of the Ukrainian national team in the UAF?..
