AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli commented on his team's victory in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 against Tottenham.
- "The match was difficult, this is a strong opponent. But we played well. We were careful and successfully implemented what we had prepared. We demonstrated a brilliant team performance. It is a shame that we did not score the second goal.
"Tottenham are strong in spirit, and this was only the first match of two. The second one will be even more important. This game gives you confidence. We have bad months like we had, but we always stayed united.
Perhaps we are not used to the expectations that we have created, we had a slump, but I am confident that we will play our football again. I always believe in my guys. It was the best Champions League match of my career," said Stefano Pioli.
As a reminder, this victory was Milan's first in the play-offs in the last 10 years. The last time the Rossoneri won was on 13 February 2013 against Barcelona (2-0).
