Today has given the world several famous people who have closely linked their lives with football:
Sergei Baltacha (1958) was a former Soviet defender who also played as a midfielder. He played for Metalist Kharkiv, Ipswich Town of England as well as Scotland's St Johnstone and Inverness. But Baltacha achieved his greatest success with Dynamo Kyiv where he won the USSR Cup and the championship four times. In 1986, being the member of the Bilo-Syni Sergey Pavlovich won the last European Cup in the history of Kyiv club - the Cup Winners' Cup. At the end of his playing career he stayed in London.
Denis Popov (1999) - defender of Kyiv Dynamo. He received his primary football training in Kyiv RVUFC and then continued with Dynamo. He made his debut for our team in the Ukrainian U-19 Championship on 13 March 2016 in an away game against Shakhtar Donetsk, which ended in a 4-1 defeat of the opponents.
On 13 April 2019, he made his debut in the main Dynamo squad in a match against Mariupol. He has played for Ukraine's Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 youth national teams. In 2019, as part of Ukraine's Under-20 national team, under Oleksandr Petrakov, he won the World Youth Championship.
Igor Gamula (1960-2021) was a former Soviet midfielder. Usually acted at ease and emotional in press conferences. "Thanks to this his name has become well-known among football fans. In Ukraine he coached Tavriya, Zakarpattya. He died on 8 December 2021. According to the preliminary version, the cause of death could be hypoglycaemic shock.
