Former Ukraine head coach Andriy Shevchenko shared his thoughts on the stadium reconstruction project in Irpin.
- "When I arrived in Irpin in August, I saw the stadium where I used to play in the Dynamo Kyiv Children's School against the backdrop of a destroyed city. There were two children running between the craters left by the bombs. At that moment, I promised myself to do everything I could to ensure that new generations in Ukraine could play football again.
The funds will be used to reconstruct the stadium. Fondazione Milan and Shakhtar have already supported me in this initiative. It remains to raise 110 thousand euros to complete the project. If the amount is not raised, I will pay the extra money myself and then dedicate myself to another plan.
Everything has changed since the beginning of the war, even if in my case I can't complain too much. We think about the soldiers and those on the front line who are saving our country. I feel a duty to help those who left their wives and children behind to protect our right to be free," Shevchenko said in an interview with the Italian media.
