The former head coach of Kolos, who now heads the Kazakh Aksu, Ruslan Kostyshin told how the attitude towards Ukrainian symbols has changed in Kazakhstan.

“The flag is always with me. When the war started, the first game I was in the T-shirt of the Ukrainian national team, and then I sewed on the flag embroidery and I always wear this suit to the game.

At first they sketched, and then when Kazakhstan became bolder and began to support us, they stopped doing it,” said Kostyshin.

The 46-year-old Ukrainian coach took charge of Aksu on January 19, 2022. Last season, Kostyshin's wards took 6th place in the championship of Kazakhstan.
