The head coach of the French "Lille" Paulo Fonseca, known in Ukraine for his work with the Donetsk "Shakhtar", expressed his opinion on the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“These are very difficult times. Despite the fact that we are not there, we cannot disconnect from what is happening in Ukraine. I have a very strong connection with Ukraine. I have many friends there, my wife and son are Ukrainians. We managed to persuade most of my wife's family to come, but we are still connected with this tragedy.
Every day we try to find out what is going on there, and the fact is that after a year we continue to help many people move, many children who live in terrible conditions, because someone decided to invade the country for nothing. And we continue to see this genocide by a country that has no reason to wage this war. It is very hard and creates a feeling of rebellion, because there are still people who no longer have a home, who are dying. There are completely destroyed cities.
Despite international assistance, we feel that what has been done is not enough. Ukraine is not only defending itself, Ukraine is defending democracy, it is defending the whole world, because if we do not stop this soon, it can happen in any other part of the world. The killers will be happy to do it elsewhere. We must stop this immediately," RMC Sport quotes Fonseca.
