Serhii Sydorchuk"International Mother Language Day. More than 100 nationalities live in Ukraine. I recently read the history of the appearance of this day. Maybe someone already knows, but it was a discovery for me.
Why is it celebrated on this particular day? The date for Mother Language Day was chosen to commemorate the tragic events that took place in Bangladesh on February 21, 1952. Then students who went to a demonstration in defense of their native Bengali language, demanding to recognize it as one of the country's official languages, were killed by policemen's bullets. Since then, this date in Bangladesh has become the day of those who died for their mother tongue, and the whole world celebrates Mother Language Day.
