PSG defender Sergio Ramos has announced the end of his career with the Spanish national team, for which he played 180 matches.
"It's time for me to say goodbye to the Spanish national team. This morning I received a call from the current head coach, who informed me that I am not and will not be part of his plans, regardless of my performances at the club.
Age in itself is not a disadvantage, it's just a number that is not necessarily related to your performance or ability. I admire and envy players like Modric, Messi and Pepe. Unfortunately, it won't happen to me because football is not always fair.
I leave the national team with unforgettable memories, all the titles we fought for and celebrated together, and the immense pride I feel as a player of the Spanish national team of all time. This emblem, this shirt and these fans, all of you, have made me happy. Thank you so much to everyone who believed in me!" the 36-year-old footballer wrote on his Instagram page.
