Former head coach of the Ukrainian national team Andriy Shevchenko shared his thoughts on the anniversary of Russia's full-scale terrorist attack on Ukraine.
- I remember every second of that morning and I can't forget it. Especially the call from my mom, who was crying and said that war had started. This is probably the most difficult moment in my life - what we feared had happened.
In the first weeks of the war, important people of Ukraine, athletes, rallied together. I am proud of the athletes who were in Ukraine. Many of them joined the army and began to defend Ukraine. Many of those abroad never forget about it.
The UK is constantly helping, raising funds, and it's great. They were among the first to provide shelter and support to Ukrainians.
I think that the Russians and Belarusians should have been excluded from any competition from the beginning of the war. We must continue to put pressure on the Russian government to end the war. People, children, athletes are dying. We must be united in this," Shevchenko said in an interview with the British media.
