Journalist Ihor Tsyhanyk assessed Oleksandr Shovkovskyi's prospects of becoming the future head coach of Dynamo Kyiv on his program Tsyhanyk Live.
"First of all, he is already working in the coaching team of Dynamo Kyiv, so to speak. Will he be the next head coach? Why not? Lucescu has another 1.5-year contract. Depending on how Mister feels, because we understand that his age is quite serious. But it's a 1.5-year contract.
The fact that he will definitely finish this season is clear. He has the inspiration to build a team that could be competitive not only in Ukraine but also in Europe. Yes, he is in extreme conditions, it used to be easier for him, he had the opportunity to buy legionnaires for problematic positions, and he gave competition. Now the situation has changed - he has some material and has to do something with it. It is much more difficult.
But whether Shovkovskyi will be Dynamo's head coach in the future is hard for me to say right now. I understand that the Dynamo president is not considering any of the potential candidates to replace Lucescu. At this stage, we are working with Lucescu, but when there is talk that he will not be able to continue working, then we will look for options.
You know, if you invite such a legendary person to the club, you realize that in the future he can be the head coach. I can say now that he will never be the head coach, but he can become one. I think that the president and the club's management, when they invited Shovkovsky, understood that he is a man with a legendary history for this club," Tsyganik said.
